WRITING BLACK IN THE TWENTIETH CENTURY
The Terence E. Jackson Collection

U*Space Gallery is home to a diverse collection of printed matter by, for, & or about people of color. The 700 plus odd titles of fiction, non-fiction, pulp fiction and propaganda, guidebooks, and pamphlets and periodicals were acquired by Terence E. Jackson over the course of his life.

It is interesting to note that the shape of the collection is dictated not by any intrinsic idea of excellence but by Mr. Jackson's desire to recognize a broader liberal view of writings by and about people of color; 'Writing Black In The Twentieth Century' beautifully gleams in part because of it's inclusion of many rare, hard-to-find, & obscure titles.

Mr. Jackson's goal is to hopefully allow viewers a fresh and exciting chance to re-examine the power of the black experience as seen through the eyes of those who write about it. (To view individual titles in person or to make donations to the collection please contact the gallery at customercare@uspacegallery.com).

A very special thank you to Sankofa Selassie & Darrell D. Johnson for there support in research & preparation.
