  
Claire V. Dorst, Painter-Educator, was born in 1922, in Plymouth, Wisconsin, and is now living in Boca Raton, Florida where he is Professor Emeritus of Florida Atlantic University. He has been assistant professor of studio art at Wayne State College from 1953 to 1959; professor of art and art history and chairman of the art department at Carthage College from 1959-1964; and professor of studio art at Florida Atlantic University from 1964 to 1991, and Chairman of that Art Department from 1968 to 1984.
He earned a BA degree from Beloit College in 1949, and an MA from the University of Iowa in 1953. He earned an MFA from the University of Wisconsin- Madison, as a United Lutheran Church of America synodical faculty scholar MFA in 1963.
Dorst moved to Florida about 1964 and became a member of the Florida League of Arts (Board Director 1971). He was also a member of the American Crafts Council and the Colonial Art Association of America. He has won many awards for painting and is known primarily for his work in abstract watercolors. He is presently living in Boca Raton, FL
