Currently Casting for a new American Play
U*Space seeks highly disciplined actors of color and integrity to be part of the world premiere of a new dramatic play. U*Space is not only interested in creating meaningful content but also ways of empowering actors and artists as space-holders and creators of strong artistic context. Our goal is to create visceral works that explore and address issues of identity, race, gender and culture as they pertain to communities of the twenty-first century and beyond.
Simulacra, is a powerful two act play written and directed by U*Space founder and visionary artist Terence E Jackson. The play revolves around the unexpected return of a man to his family home and explores the impact of memory and feelings upon perceived expectations, family obligations and the trauma of legacy. As the play unfolds, it becomes all too clear that sometimes, the ties that are supposed to bind us are the very ones that eventually tear us apart.
Audition Details and Requirements
U*Space is looking for fearless actors willing to join us in pushing past boundaries, as we create an experience that is at once dynamic as well as theatrical.
We ask that you not let inexperience prevent you from auditioning. U*Space understands that one may not have the experience but something just as important; The three D’s: Desire, Determination and Drive. As with everything that U*Space does, this will be an amazing opportunity for an actor to challenge their own creative abilities in the bringing to life these complex characters in a live setting.
We will be conducting closed auditions January 7 & 8, 2017 from 9:30 am to 1pm. Applicants should prepare a subtle but complex, 1 to 2 min. monologue that showcases range and personality
Currently, we are looking to cast three strong non-union actors:
Two men of color between 28 – 60 years of age.
One woman of color between 30 – 60 years of age.
Please submit your basic contact information, including headshots and resume (if available) to email@example.com. Actors will receive an email with available time slots to audition.
