Royo was born November 10, 1955 in Pau, France. He started creating artwork in 1978 while in Bombay, India. 1978 to 1986, was a life of adventurer (the artist traveled to twenty countries). In 1987, Royo moved to the Provençal Drôme, a department in Southeastern France, located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region where he created his first works on canvas.
