Born and raised in rural northern Connecticut as an only child with a passion for art and a love of nature. By high school I was determined to have a future career as an artist, so I took as many art classes and independent studies in art as I could. When I graduated in 1995, I won the town scholarship for art which I used towards my education at the University of New Hampshire. At UNH I got a solid, classical education in the foundations of drawing and painting and worked from still lives and figure models.
In 1997, I had a semester abroad through the National Student Exchange Program to the University of California Santa Cruz. This is when I was formally introduced to abstract art. I fell in love with the Abstract Expressionists and the Bay Area painters who continue to influence my work today. I returned to UNH to finish my degree in Fine Art with a focus in painting and graduated in 1999.
I started by showing in a few local shops and galleries in New Hampshire. In 2001 I returned to my home state of Connecticut and it wasn't too long after that I began sharing and selling my work. In 2005 I went to London for the Raw Arts Festival and later that year I hosted the international Art 4 People Festival in CT. Since then I have exhibited my work in galleries and exhibits in CT, MA, CA, and FL. I've sold hundreds of original paintings worldwide and the knowledge that my art has gone more places than I have is quite possibly just as thrilling as painting itself!
