Scoppa's interests are in appropriation, spirituality, and the use of language as image in art. Most of his work uses a post-modern appropriation of images, mostly on magazine paper, although recently he has experimented with larger works using photographic templates.
"Essentially my technique is to begin with the image on the paper as a starting point, then let my imagination take over, so that the finished artwork rarely has any resemblance to what is beneath the painting, although more frequently these days i will leave some of the original text or imagery to show through and become part of the finished work."
The artist resides in Sydney, Australia.
