Born 1954 in Detroit, Michigan. JOHN McLAUGHLIN - as far back as I can remember I loved creating things. Sculpture, painting, drawing in all mediums. Being self taught, I had the complete freedom to find my own “style”, with many mistakes along the way. I work without any pre-conceived ideas and let the emotional feeling of the day guide me. Most of my work depicts the human interaction with nature. My first exhibit was at the Scarab Club in Detroit in 1989. My most recent display was at the annual Michigan Fine Art Competition at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center in 2008. John McLaughlin has had the good fortune of having his work featured in more than 12 group shows and 9 solo exhibitions. McLaughlin's work has been collected internationally for many years. "In my art, I try to express my child like curiosity of the amazing world surrounding me." The artist currently resides in Canton, Michigan.
