INTUITION 1: quick and ready insight 2a: immediate apprehension or cognition b: knowledge or conviction gained by intuition c: the power or faculty of attaining to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference - Merriam-Webster Dictionary
Music and visual arts have always served as faithful companions to one another. Together, they form one of the most powerful elixirs known to induce intellectual stimulation in man.
THE SOUND OF VIOLENCE asks each artist to explore the power of intuition. Each artist will receive a cd containing music that may or may not be know to them (Nor should the artist try and discover the name of the piece). After listening to selections, each artist is asked to interpret visually what they have heard aurally. The work will be untitled until opening night, at which time, artist and audience will be able to judge for themselves how successful each interpretation is to their musical conterpart.
For centuries, intuition has been regarded as a powerful gift, that was often thought to be Divine or prophetic in nature. In recent years, we have come to understand that everyone possesses Intuit powers that if listened too move us towards a better understanding of what is possible and new. Because it forces us to look more carefully at the impressions made by meanings and patterns of our day to day experiences intuition always lends itself to helping us move towards the future. - Terence e. Jackson
