Mariama is a self-taught Tuareg artist. She was born in Tchintabaraden, Niger, West Africa. "I like to tell stories through my paintings. Since I was young I liked to draw, but since I grew up in the desert of Africa I didn't have pencils. So I would draw in the sand. I couldn't wait for the rains to come, and I would spend hours making statues from the mud and clay." The artist currently resides in Maryland. UNTITLED $9.00
