Donaldson comes from an engineering background; he served as a toolmaker and draughtsman in the aircraft industry before finally embarking on a career in art & design. Donaldson gained his masters degree from the University of Newcastle gaining a distinction and awarded a British Academy AHRB award using it to develop his practice. As a practising artist/Designer Donaldson is committed to a rigorous development and re-evaluation of his practice. This has led to him receiving many commissions and exhibitions regionally, nationally and internationally. He was also Co Founding member of the Quebec Street studio group. Initiating and collaborating on a number of studio based events, including art and design exhibitions and live music events. The artist resides in Bangkok, Thailand.
